Hampton Court

Have you ever been to Hampton Court, well, I can finally say “I have” and it was brilliant. Hampton Court is somewhere I have always wanted to see, steeped in history, plenty to see and photograph and said to be haunted. I love all that. Four of us went, three team members, Mark, Beverley, myself (Jacqui) and Dave (Beverley's boyfriend) Mark was driving, we set off from my house in Liverpool at 5.45am and arrived at Hampton Court at 10am. We paid our £13.50 each and entered through the left side door as the main entrance was closed due to maintenance work.

As we walked through the first section (the kitchens) you got a really good sense of what it must have been like for the people who worked there in Henry Vlll time, as it was all set up as it was back then, including a very large open fire that was roaring away in the kitchen, it was very hot in there, outside it was a hot and sunny day. You are allowed to take as many photographs as you like in this section of Hampton Court and I took plenty.

We then entered a room, it was full of old barrels, me being me, I photographed everything, and I was like this in every room we went in to. There are some places that you cannot take any photographs, places like the chapel, it's also a good thing to turn your mobile phone off too, or you might end up very embarrassed like me, as I stood listening to the harmonious choir playing in the background, I could hear the gummy bears song playing, “Oh my god, it's me”, I just wanted the floor to open up and swallow me as I looked at all the disapproving eyes stirring at me, it was my husband ringing me to see if we had arrive safe and sound.

I hadn't realised that we had entered a section that we couldn't take photographs, and I was snapping away for Briton, I took quite a few photographs, then a very nice young lady tapped me on the shoulder and informed me that I wasn't allowed to take any photographs of the haunted corridor or preceding staircase. Too late, I had taken plenty of photographs. The young lady asked me to delete any pictures that I had taken in this section of Hampton Court, I thought I had deleted them, but as I didn't have my reading glasses with me, I couldn't see what I was doing, it turned out that I hadn't deleted any of them. The rest of the day went well and we all thoroughly enjoy our time there. We arrived back at my house at 9pm, absolutely shattered.

I made myself a lovely cup of tea and reviewed the photographs, look at what I caught!
