| The Quiggins Vigil. |
|---|
Back in August 2004, we conducted a few vigils at Quiggins. Quiggins is what we call an alternative store, you can buy anything from gothic clothing, sixty's memorabilia, antiques, second hand furniture and many other wonderful things, it also had a bar on the second floor, it had an atmosphere all of its own.
The building was very old, about 200 or so years old and had been used for many different things over the years. It's been a pub, a warehouse for Woolworths complete with a train inside, a morgue in world war two and finally as Quiggins.
I have posted a short clip of film from my first vigil at Quiggins. We arrived at the property at about 8.30pm and set up out equipment, I positioned my stand alone camera on the third floor (the Art Gallery) and locked it off (pressed record and nobody goes near the camera). The vigil commenced at 10pm, at about 10.45pm one of our remote cameras's moved and we had to go and fix it back in its original position then run checks on it. As you can see in the film clip, one of our group members is stood by the remote camera across the landing from my camera. You will notice that she does not react to the voice as it was not audible to us and we only came across it when we reviewed the tape at home.
You can clearly hear other group members talking on the floor beneath my camera.
We think the voice is that of (Florry) Florence, the wife of the Landlord when it was a pub, she disappeared without trace and her body is believed to be buried within the building, rumour has it that she was murdered by the Landlord.
At a club meeting at my house we reviewed the tape and heard the voice, it sent shivers down our spines. The tape has been analysed and every member of the group was cancelled out. Nor was it the security staff.
